We utilise the science of Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) to provide person-centred, and family focused supports to help reduce the likelihood of challenging behaviours occurring, and focus on teaching appropriate, functional skills. ABA is a science that has decades of research supporting its use for just this purpose!
Our service begins with development of a Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) Plan, based on indirect and direct functional behaviour assessments, PBS Plan and Skills Teaching Program Development, and ongoing implementation and skills teaching support. Initial development of a plan takes 4-6 weeks, and then ongoing support is provided, depending on the client’s needs. Behaviour Consultants provide the program and plan development, as well as any additional implementation support.
We support people who require support to communicate and get their needs met. No diagnosis is necessary, however we do commonly work with people with Autism and Intellectual Disability. We create a plan for the individual, but involve the people in their lives (families/carers), to help ensure behaviour change and success. Challenging behaviour can take many forms, including aggression, self-injurious behaviour, absconding, property destruction, stereotypic and repetitive behaviour, and more.
